Co-creating a Better Community

The Schools Challenge is a comprehensive project-based learning that aims to help junior secondary school students to broaden their career horizons, and develop the skills, experience and networks they need to compete for jobs in the future. Through cocreating social innovations under the mentorship of business volunteers and university student volunteers, students enhance their creativity, problem solving, teamwork, speaking and digital skills, and are motivated to aim high and stay positive.

Since 2018, the program has engaged over 2,900 junior secondary students, JPMorganChase volunteers, university student volunteers, teachers and program partners in developing 270+ social innovation projects. Through hands-on learning workshops, mentorship from JPMorganChase volunteers and university students’ mentoring sessions, the student teams apply their acquired knowledge and skills to co-create innovative solutions that help to make the community a better and smarter place to live.

Along the learning journey, students are able to:

• Develop creativity and problem-solving skills through designing an innovative product or solution to address a real problem in the community

• Enhance teamwork through working with JPMorganChase volunteers and university student volunteers

• Develop speaking skills through sharing ideas with the team and community

• Stay positive and aim high

• Acquire digital knowledge and skills to apply them in daily life

• Gain greater understanding about different careers and education pathways from practitioners
